Israel's Transportation Gridlocks and Fixes
From bicycles to planes, from sidewalks to heavy and light railway, Israel's transportation is rapidly changing in a desperate attempt to keep up with demand and need. The current situation is not merely a result of "bad planning", but of a set of circumstances, social, economic and political forces that are in play in the background. Both the problems and the fixes are not least evident throughout the city of Tel Aviv which attracts mass commuters day and night, and which is at the forefront of some of the solutions offered. This walk will take you through the different transportation issues, represented by different transportation sites, and will contribute to your understanding of how each of them came to be, and their social consequences.
